AI Toolbox's export feature lets you download any Claude conversation as a TXT, Markdown, or JSON file. Claude's only native export is a full account data dump via Settings > Privacy > Export data, delivered by email with a 24-hour expiring link, with no per-conversation export button. TXT exports give you a clean, readable transcript. Markdown exports include a YAML frontmatter block (title, date, url, source) at the top so they drop straight into Obsidian, Logseq, Pandoc, and any static-site generator. JSON exports provide structured data with message metadata for programmatic use. As the Claude module of AI Toolbox (formerly ChatGPT Toolbox), 25,000+ users, export is available on Premium and Lifetime plans.
Claude's only native export is a full account data dump via Settings > Privacy > Export data, delivered by email as a single file with a 24-hour expiring link. There is no per-conversation download button, no format options, and no way to grab just the one chat you care about. If you want to save a single conversation, your options are the full account dump or manual copy-paste.
For professionals who rely on Claude for work - developers, writers, researchers - this is a significant gap. Important conversations containing code solutions, research findings, or creative work deserve a proper one-click save.
AI Toolbox adds export buttons directly to the Claude interface. Choose TXT for human-readable transcripts, Markdown (with YAML frontmatter) for Obsidian/Logseq knowledge bases, or JSON for structured data, and download any conversation with a single click.
Download any Claude conversation as a plain text file. TXT exports are human-readable and easy to share with colleagues, paste into documents, or archive for personal reference.
Download any Claude conversation as a Markdown file with a YAML frontmatter block at the top (title, date, url, source) and role-labeled message sections. Drops straight into Obsidian, Logseq, Pandoc, Quartz, Astro, Hugo, GitHub, or any tool that reads YAML frontmatter, no manual cleanup.
Download conversations in structured JSON format for programmatic access. JSON exports preserve message metadata, making them ideal for data analysis, training datasets, or integration with other tools.
AI Toolbox syncs all your conversations to IndexedDB in the background. Export any conversation - even older ones that are no longer visible in your sidebar - because the data is already stored locally.
AI Toolbox's interface supports 10 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Hebrew, and Hindi - with full RTL support for Arabic and Hebrew.

Claude's only native export is a full account data dump via Settings > Privacy > Export data, delivered by email with a 24-hour expiring link, web and desktop only. There is no per-conversation export button or one-click download as a file. AI Toolbox adds one-click per-conversation export in TXT, Markdown (with YAML frontmatter for Obsidian and Logseq), or JSON.
AI Toolbox's Claude module adds a per-conversation export menu on claude.ai that lets paid users export any single chat as TXT, Markdown, or JSON with one click. Export is a paid-tier feature at $9.99/month or $99 lifetime per module. Free users can still use exact-match search and message bookmarks without upgrading.
AI Toolbox supports three export formats on Claude: TXT (plain text), Markdown (.md, with a YAML frontmatter block at the top containing title, date, url, source so the file drops straight into Obsidian, Logseq, Pandoc, Quartz, Astro, Hugo, and any static-site generator), and JSON (structured data). Markdown was added in May 2026. TXT is best for reading and sharing. Markdown is best for knowledge bases and docs sites. JSON is best for programmatic access and data analysis. PDF is supported on the ChatGPT and Gemini modules but not on Claude yet.
Export is a paid feature available with Premium ($9.99/month) or Lifetime ($99 one-time) plans. The free plan includes search (5 results) and bookmarks (2 conversations) but does not include export. A 14-day money-back guarantee applies to paid plans.
AI Toolbox Claude export runs entirely inside your browser against a local IndexedDB index. Nothing is uploaded to a third-party server. The exported file is generated in the browser and downloaded directly to your machine, consistent with the local-first privacy model that governs AI Toolbox search and bookmarks on Claude.
Claude's native export is delivered by email with a 24-hour download link. Delivery time depends on Claude's queue and the size of your account, and the link expires 24 hours after delivery. AI Toolbox's Claude module export is instant in comparison because the conversation is already synced locally.
Not yet on the Claude module of AI Toolbox. The Claude module currently supports TXT, Markdown (with YAML frontmatter), and JSON. For PDF, use your browser's native print-to-PDF flow on the claude.ai conversation, or switch to the ChatGPT or Gemini modules of AI Toolbox, which support PDF today. PDF on Claude is on the roadmap; Markdown with YAML frontmatter was prioritized first because the dominant requested use case was knowledge-base ingestion in Obsidian and Logseq.
AI Toolbox exports any synced Claude conversation regardless of whether it lives inside a Claude Project or outside one. This is useful because Claude's native conversational search is scoped per Project, while AI Toolbox search, bookmarks, and export all span every Project and every standalone chat uniformly across the account.
No. AI Toolbox is a Chromium browser extension and runs on desktop only, in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, and Arc. For mobile Claude, Claude's native full-account export (Settings > Privacy > Export data) is the best available option, though it delivers an email archive rather than an instant per-conversation file.
Exported files download to your browser's default download location, just like any other file download. The file is named after the conversation title for easy identification.

“I run a small data science team and we use Claude constantly for brainstorming and code review. Being able to export conversations as JSON means I can feed them into our internal knowledge base. The TXT export is great for sharing transcripts in Slack or email. This was the missing piece in our Claude workflow.”
