The gap
grok.com offers Projects, a History list and a search box that matches conversation titles. Grok inside X has no history sidebar and no search. On neither surface are there folders, tags, reply bookmarks or a way to act on more than one chat at a time.
That is fine for a dozen chats. Daily users pass a hundred within weeks, and at that point the cost is real: minutes scrolling for a thread you know exists, work redone because the earlier conversation could not be found, and the analysis Grok gave you in March buried under three hundred newer titles, split across two sites. Folders, tags, message search and bulk actions are the missing layer, and a browser extension is the only way to add them inside grok.com and x.com.

The same menu opens on grok.com and on x.com/i/grok. Folders are backed up to your account and bookmarks are keyed to your X identity, so both follow you across surfaces and devices. Conversation content never leaves your browser. Works with every Grok plan and model, since the extension sits on the interface.

Smart Tags
Smart Tags reads each cached conversation and groups it under Coding, Math and Science, Research, Writing or Business, with a count per category and your own keyword rules on top. Chats from grok.com and from Grok inside X land in the same view, and the bar below the list moves, exports or deletes whatever you tick.
Search to add
Open a folder, click Add and start typing. Matching conversations appear with a tick box; select as many as you like and click Add selected. There is no drag and drop to fight with, which matters on x.com where Grok has no history list to drag from in the first place.
Full-text search
Search History scans the text of every synced message on both surfaces and highlights each match inside its conversation, with a YOU or GROK label and the date. Click a result to open the chat at that message. Premium adds Exact Match, a role filter, date presets and include or exclude chips.
Bookmarks
Bookmark a Grok reply and give it one of six colour labels; it lands in the Bookmarks viewer with its conversation title, from either surface. Filter by colour and click Open to jump straight back to the message, with a flash so you cannot miss it.
Bulk actions
Manage Chats lists every conversation with its date and a filter box. Multi-select, then move the selection into a folder, or export or delete the batch. It is the only way to clean up a long Grok history without opening chats one at a time; export and delete in bulk are Premium on Grok.
Context Mentions
Type @@ in the Grok composer and pick an earlier chat. Its content is attached as context to the new message, so the thesis you settled last month travels into today's session without a copy-paste. Long conversations are summarized first so they fit the window.

2 root folders, and unlimited subfolders inside them, so a two-folder structure can still be several levels deep. The cap counts root folders only and is separate for each platform, so Grok's 2 are independent of the 2 you get on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. Premium removes the cap entirely.
Open Manage Folders, go into the folder and click Add, then type part of the conversation title and tick it in the results. There is no drag and drop. To file many at once, open Manage Chats or Smart Tags, multi-select the conversations and use Move to Folder, which is free on every plan.
