Does Google Gemini have built-in conversation search?
Yes, a basic one. Gemini's sidebar has a search page that matches conversation titles and lists them with dates. It does not search inside messages, shows no matching snippet, and has no exact-match, role or date filters. AI Toolbox injects its own panel above that page and searches the full text of every synced conversation.
Is Gemini conversation search free in AI Toolbox?
Yes. Full-text search of every message, highlighted snippets, match counts, recent searches and the Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+F shortcut are on the free plan, with 5 results per query. Premium ($9.99 per month) or Lifetime ($99 one-time) removes the cap and adds the Advanced panel: exact match, role and date filters, include and exclude chips, Titles only, bulk actions and findings export.
How does AI Toolbox search my Gemini history?
When you open Gemini, the extension syncs your conversations into an IndexedDB database in your browser, following Gemini's own pagination so long threads arrive in full. Searches query that local index, which is why results appear in a few hundredths of a second and why your conversation content never reaches our servers.
Is there a keyboard shortcut for Gemini search?
Yes. Cmd+Shift+F on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux opens Gemini's search page with the AI Toolbox panel focused, from anywhere on gemini.google.com. It keeps a multi-account /u/1 prefix if you use one. The same entry is available as Search History in the floating AI Toolbox menu.
Can I filter Gemini search results by date or by who said it?
With Premium, yes. The Advanced panel adds an exact-match toggle, Questions or Answers role pills, past week, month and year pills plus a custom from-to date range, Must include and Exclude chips with All or Any matching, and a Titles only switch. On the free plan a plain query searches everything with no filters applied.
Can I search my ChatGPT, Claude and Grok history at the same time?
Yes, with Premium on the modules involved or All Access. Search all platforms runs one query across every AI you have switched it on for, groups results by platform and deep-links each match. The unified index is built on your device, is off by default, and is purged when you turn it off. Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+. opens it from any tab.
What can I do with the conversations a search finds?
On Premium, select any of the results and move them to a folder, export them as TXT, Markdown, JSON or PDF, or delete them together. Findings export goes one step further and exports only the passages that matched, as Markdown or TXT, with a link back to each conversation.
Does my Gemini data leave my browser when I search?
No. The index lives in your browser and every query runs locally. If you sign in to a different Google account, including a second /u/1 login, the extension clears the previous account's local caches so one account never sees another's history. Only what you build in the extension, such as folders, prompts and tags, syncs to your AI Toolbox account, encrypted at rest.
Which browsers does the Gemini module support?
AI Toolbox works on Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Arc and any other Chromium-based browser from a single Chrome Web Store install. Firefox is not supported.
