It searches the whole chat, including the parts of a long chat the page has not loaded, which the browser's Ctrl+F misses, and ignores upper and lower case and accents. Open it from the Command Palette on ChatGPT, the AI Toolbox list on Claude, Gemini and Grok, or Alt+Shift+F (Option+Shift+F on Mac). Free, on all four assistants.
The AI Toolbox Mark: Every item AI Toolbox adds to an assistant's own menus ends with a small toolbox mark, so our Export or Add to folder can be told apart from the assistant's own entries with similar names. On all four assistants.
Claude's Own Usage Figures: The Plan usage window and the usage bar under Claude's message box show Claude's real session and weekly percentages and exact reset times, including on free accounts. The reply text itself is never kept.

Improvements

Claude Context Window Meter: Counts artifacts, files Claude read, attachments and images, not only message text, and only the branch of the chat you are on, with a token estimate rebuilt against Anthropic's own counter. Haiku 5.5 shows its 1M window on paid plans.
ChatGPT Project Chats: Move to Folder, Export, Pin to AI Toolbox and Tag in the menu at the top of the chat, Export This Chat in the Command Palette, Collapse buttons, and the folder tree marking the open chat.
Grok Projects: AI Toolbox appears on project pages, and Export this chat, bookmarks and the Context Window Meter work in chats opened inside a project.
The Right Plans From Every Upgrade Button: Upgrade buttons on Claude, Gemini and Grok open that assistant's plans instead of ChatGPT's, and the upgrade window links to the one-time Lifetime and All Access plans.
A Plan Label That Can Retry: When AI Toolbox cannot check your plan, the label says Retry instead of a loading dot, and clicking it checks again.

Drag the Toolbox Button Anywhere: The AI Toolbox button can be dragged anywhere on the page, and your plan label, the Context Window Meter and, on ChatGPT, the ring of quick-access buttons move with it, opening toward the middle of the screen. The position is kept for each site, and dropping the button back in its corner restores the original layout. On all four assistants.
A Plan Label That Names Your Plan: The label above the toolbox button reads Free, Monthly, Annual, Lifetime or Team instead of FREE or PRO, because three of the four assistants call one of their own plans Pro.
Export This Chat (ChatGPT): A dashboard entry that exports the open chat without relying on ChatGPT's own menus. Free users save the chat as a text file; other formats are Premium.

Describe It in the Command Palette: Plain requests such as "how do I delete all my chats" find the right tool, in all 12 supported languages.
Add or Move to Folder, Copy a Prompt, Named Chain Steps: The folder picker can add a chat to another folder or move it out of its current ones; saved prompts gain a copy button; and each step of a prompt chain can carry a short name.
Cross-Platform Folders in the Folder Tree: An All platforms view in the folder tree shows your folders across all four assistants, kept in sync with each site's own folders. Part of Premium.
Claude Artifacts in Bulk: Select artifacts in My Artifacts and export them as one ZIP arranged by project and chat, or filter the vault by project and chat. Bulk export is part of Premium.

Improvements

Grok Results Open at the Match: Opening a Grok search result scrolls to the matching message instead of the top of the chat.
Out of the Send Button's Way: On ChatGPT the toolbox button moves up when the message box stretches into the bottom-right corner.
Bookmarks in Long Chats: The This chat tab lists every bookmark in a long ChatGPT chat, and jumping to an older one scrolls until the message is loaded.
Purchases Picked Up on Return: A plan bought in another tab shows when you come back to ChatGPT, without a reload.
A Whole Allowance in One Chat: A single chat can hold your entire bookmark and label allowance, and a full chat says so instead of showing a generic error.
Sturdier Ctrl/Cmd+K: The shortcut opens the dashboard reliably, including while one of ChatGPT's own windows is open.
Header Export: The "..." menu at the top of an open ChatGPT chat now includes Export.

Bug Fixes

Server Overload: Every ChatGPT page load made every other open ChatGPT tab reload its settings from our servers, slowing AI Toolbox for everyone for several days; fixed in the extension and on the server
Missing Export in ChatGPT Menus: Export, and on some setups every AI Toolbox item, could disappear from ChatGPT's chat menus after ChatGPT changed its markup
Dark Mode Export Formats: The format buttons in the export window looked impossible to select
Invisible and Greyed Folders: Folder names could render white on ChatGPT's white sidebar, and folders and the Smart Tags header could look locked
Select All in Manage Chats: Selections could read zero, stop at the first 20 chats, or be cleared by another tab, leaving Export doing nothing

Remove Smart Tags From the ChatGPT Sidebar: The panel can be taken out of the sidebar while tags keep working from the toolbox and the Command Palette.
Titles Only Beside the Search Box (ChatGPT): Matching titles instead of message text is one click next to the search field. Part of Premium search.
Every Prompt in the // List: The // and .. lists show every saved prompt and chain and find one by any word in its text, on all four assistants.

Improvements

Stoppable Exports: Long exports say why they are waiting and can be stopped without losing the chats already done; folder and project exports now show progress.
Exports Keep What You Wrote: Lists, tables and links come through text and JSON exports as written instead of being stripped.
PDFs of Any Length: Very long conversations export as a real PDF from our server, and the in-browser fallback can no longer exhaust the computer's memory.
Context Meter Accuracy: ChatGPT's window sizes now come from OpenAI's own published figures, and Auto reads your plan from ChatGPT.

Search by Date Range: Advanced Search takes a start and end date of your choosing, on all four assistants and in cross-platform search.
Dates on Every Message: Each message carries its own date and time, in your time zone, in exports and in search results.
Conversation Size in Exports: Every export states the conversation's size in characters, words and messages.
Usage Beside the Message Box: Claude and Gemini show your usage next to the box you type in; on Claude it names the limit closest to running out and when it resets.
Folder Search Reaches Subfolders: Searching in Move to Folder finds the folders filed under the one you type, shown with their full path.

Improvements

Announcements Without a Release: The notice at the top of the features window is now served from our backend rather than compiled into the extension. Announcements can be published, corrected or taken down the same day, instead of waiting on a store review. It replaces a slot whose content was fixed at build time, which once left a postponed launch date on screen for a day because taking it down required shipping a new version.
Composer Dropdowns Fit Short Windows: The // prompt list, the .. and ## chain lists, and the @@ context-mention list opened with their top edge above the viewport on short windows, hiding the search field and the first results. They now stay inside the window on all four assistants.

Bug Fixes

Manage Chats Stopped Loading Part Way: On large accounts the chat list could stall part way through, showing only a fraction of the conversations and reading as data loss. Reported by a customer whose list stopped at 67 of 958 chats.
A Long Sync Could Undo an Archive: Archiving a conversation while a full sync was running could leave the archive count unchanged, and reloading did not help. Found on a Premium account holding roughly 1,720 conversations.
Dismissing a Paywall Closed the Window Behind It: Closing an upgrade prompt also closed the surface that raised it, so a free user who pressed Export in Manage Chats and dismissed the prompt lost their selection. Audited and fixed across eight gates on Claude, Gemini and Grok.
Folders Showed Stale Chat Names: A renamed conversation kept its old name inside a folder, and a deleted conversation could stay listed in one.
Carry Forward Worked Only Sometimes: "Carry this chat forward" and "Continue in fresh chat" could produce no message and no new conversation, with nothing on screen explaining why.
Claude Top-Bar Buttons Looked Like Claude's Own: Our Export, Bookmarks and Move-to-folder buttons sat beside Claude's Share button and had come to resemble it closely enough to be misread as native.

Export From Cross-Platform Search: The "Search all platforms" view used to only link to what it found. It now exports too: every chat the query matched leaves as a single archive, shaped exactly like a bulk export from Manage Chats, so one search across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok is one download instead of four separate trips.
Findings Export: Export the passages that matched your search instead of the conversations holding them. Each finding carries enough of the exchange around it to read on its own, including the assistant's reply and not only what you typed. Available in Markdown and TXT on all four assistants.
Keep Your Prompt Library On This Device: A setting under Settings, Prompts stores your saved prompts and prompt chains on your own machine rather than on our servers. Syncing across devices becomes something you switch on, not a condition of using the library.
Floating Sidebar Panels: Your folder tree, and on ChatGPT the Pinned Folders, Pinned Chats, and Smart Tags tabs, can each be moved out of the assistant's own sidebar into a floating window you drag, resize, and keep across sessions. Docked stays the default. A panel that cannot find its place in the sidebar now moves itself out instead of not appearing at all, and returns once the sidebar is usable again.
Carry Forward From Any Chat's Menu: The cross-platform context handoff moved into the three-dot menu on any chat in the sidebar, so you can summarize a conversation and continue it elsewhere without opening it first.
Hide Filed Chats On Claude, Gemini, and Grok: The ChatGPT sidebar-declutter option now runs on the other three platforms. Hidden chats stay in their folders, still turn up in search, and the conversation you have open is never hidden.

Faster Folder Picker (ChatGPT): The folder and project picker opens immediately on large accounts instead of reading every message of every conversation just to draw a list of titles

Search From Any Tab: New browser-level keyboard commands (default Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+.) open cross-platform search from any Chrome tab. These use Chrome's native command system, so the update installs silently with no new permissions and you can rebind them at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
Titles-Only Search Toggle: A switch in Advanced Search limits matching to conversation titles, for when you rename chats deliberately and want exactly those threads.

How often does AI Toolbox release updates?

We ship frequently: feature releases roughly monthly (versions like v5.0.x) and smaller fixes or improvements every 1-2 weeks. Critical patches are released as needed. All users receive updates automatically through the Chrome Web Store.

Which AI assistants does AI Toolbox support?

AI Toolbox supports ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok from a single install. ChatGPT has been supported since launch; Claude and Gemini were added in June 2026 and Grok in July 2026. With the cross-platform layer enabled, your search, tags, folders, and prompts work across all four together. Everything runs on Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Arc).

Will my data be affected by updates?

No. All AI Toolbox updates are designed to be backward-compatible with your existing data. Your folders, pins, saved prompts, and settings are automatically migrated to new versions. We test extensively before each release to minimize any disruption. As an extra precaution, we recommend using the bulk export feature periodically to create local backups.

How do I know when a new version is released?

Chrome checks installed extensions for updates every few hours and installs new versions automatically in the background. You'll see in-product notes highlighting new features after an update. Can I roll back to a previous version?

While Chrome doesn't officially support version rollback, we maintain stability across updates to minimize the need for one. If you encounter a critical bug after an update, please contact our support team. We typically release hotfix patches quickly for critical issues.

Do free and paid users get the same updates?

Yes. All users receive the same core feature updates, bug fixes, and performance improvements regardless of plan. The differences between plans are usage limits and premium features (such as unlimited folders, unlimited search results, bulk export, and unlimited prompt chains). Cross-device sync is included on every plan. We provide a comprehensive free experience while offering optional premium features for power users.

What happened to a feature that changed or was removed?

Occasionally we rework or retire features based on usage data, feedback, or store policy. When that happens, we document it in release notes and, where relevant, replace it with a better alternative. If a feature you relied on changed, please reach out to support and we'll explain the reasoning and suggest an alternative workflow.

Are there breaking changes I should know about?

We avoid breaking changes whenever possible. If a major architectural change affects your workflow, we provide advance notice, migration handling, and backward compatibility during the transition. Any breaking change is clearly called out in the release notes.

It searches the whole chat, including the parts of a long chat the page has not loaded, which the browser's Ctrl+F misses, and ignores upper and lower case and accents. Open it from the Command Palette on ChatGPT, the AI Toolbox list on Claude, Gemini and Grok, or Alt+Shift+F (Option+Shift+F on Mac). Free, on all four assistants.
The AI Toolbox Mark: Every item AI Toolbox adds to an assistant's own menus ends with a small toolbox mark, so our Export or Add to folder can be told apart from the assistant's own entries with similar names. On all four assistants.
Claude's Own Usage Figures: The Plan usage window and the usage bar under Claude's message box show Claude's real session and weekly percentages and exact reset times, including on free accounts. The reply text itself is never kept.

Claude Context Window Meter: Counts artifacts, files Claude read, attachments and images, not only message text, and only the branch of the chat you are on, with a token estimate rebuilt against Anthropic's own counter. Haiku 5.5 shows its 1M window on paid plans.
ChatGPT Project Chats: Move to Folder, Export, Pin to AI Toolbox and Tag in the menu at the top of the chat, Export This Chat in the Command Palette, Collapse buttons, and the folder tree marking the open chat.
Grok Projects: AI Toolbox appears on project pages, and Export this chat, bookmarks and the Context Window Meter work in chats opened inside a project.

A Plan Label That Names Your Plan: The label above the toolbox button reads Free, Monthly, Annual, Lifetime or Team instead of FREE or PRO, because three of the four assistants call one of their own plans Pro.
Export This Chat (ChatGPT): A dashboard entry that exports the open chat without relying on ChatGPT's own menus. Free users save the chat as a text file; other formats are Premium.
One Free Text Export From Every List: The free plan's single-chat text export now also works from Manage Chats, folders, projects, search results and Smart Tags, on all four assistants.
Free Bulk Delete on Claude, Gemini and Grok: Free users can delete up to 5 chats at a time, as on ChatGPT.
Claude Personal and Team Organizations: Search, chat lists, Smart Tags, the Artifact Vault, bookmarks and folders are kept separate for each organization, and AI Toolbox follows a switch without a page reload. Saved prompts and chains stay shared.
Export One Grok Chat: From the features window, from each grok.com chat's menu, or from any row in Manage Chats. Text is free.
Describe It in the Command Palette: Plain requests such as "how do I delete all my chats" find the right tool, in all 12 supported languages.
Add or Move to Folder, Copy a Prompt, Named Chain Steps: The folder picker can add a chat to another folder or move it out of its current ones; saved prompts gain a copy button; and each step of a prompt chain can carry a short name.

Claude Artifacts in Bulk: Select artifacts in My Artifacts and export them as one ZIP arranged by project and chat, or filter the vault by project and chat. Bulk export is part of Premium.

Improvements

Grok Results Open at the Match: Opening a Grok search result scrolls to the matching message instead of the top of the chat.
Out of the Send Button's Way: On ChatGPT the toolbox button moves up when the message box stretches into the bottom-right corner.
Bookmarks in Long Chats: The This chat tab lists every bookmark in a long ChatGPT chat, and jumping to an older one scrolls until the message is loaded.
Purchases Picked Up on Return: A plan bought in another tab shows when you come back to ChatGPT, without a reload.
A Whole Allowance in One Chat: A single chat can hold your entire bookmark and label allowance, and a full chat says so instead of showing a generic error.
Sturdier Ctrl/Cmd+K: The shortcut opens the dashboard reliably, including while one of ChatGPT's own windows is open.
Header Export: The "..." menu at the top of an open ChatGPT chat now includes Export.

Bug Fixes

Server Overload: Every ChatGPT page load made every other open ChatGPT tab reload its settings from our servers, slowing AI Toolbox for everyone for several days; fixed in the extension and on the server
Missing Export in ChatGPT Menus: Export, and on some setups every AI Toolbox item, could disappear from ChatGPT's chat menus after ChatGPT changed its markup
Dark Mode Export Formats: The format buttons in the export window looked impossible to select
Invisible and Greyed Folders: Folder names could render white on ChatGPT's white sidebar, and folders and the Smart Tags header could look locked
Select All in Manage Chats: Selections could read zero, stop at the first 20 chats, or be cleared by another tab, leaving Export doing nothing
Account Switching: The previous ChatGPT account's folders could show after signing in to another account; affected folders are repaired automatically
Personal and Business Accounts: Manage Chats could show 0 chats on personal accounts, a Business account could index nothing, and the sidebar panels were not found on Business and non-English layouts

Remove Smart Tags From the ChatGPT Sidebar: The panel can be taken out of the sidebar while tags keep working from the toolbox and the Command Palette.
Titles Only Beside the Search Box (ChatGPT): Matching titles instead of message text is one click next to the search field. Part of Premium search.
Every Prompt in the // List: The // and .. lists show every saved prompt and chain and find one by any word in its text, on all four assistants.
Tagging With Fewer Steps (ChatGPT): Tag from a chat's sidebar menu, type several tags at once separated by commas, and switch tag colours off if you prefer plain tags.

Improvements

Stoppable Exports: Long exports say why they are waiting and can be stopped without losing the chats already done; folder and project exports now show progress.
Exports Keep What You Wrote: Lists, tables and links come through text and JSON exports as written instead of being stripped.
PDFs of Any Length: Very long conversations export as a real PDF from our server, and the in-browser fallback can no longer exhaust the computer's memory.
Context Meter Accuracy: ChatGPT's window sizes now come from OpenAI's own published figures, and Auto reads your plan from ChatGPT.
A Close Button for the Floating Window: One click puts every detached panel back in the sidebar.

Search by Date Range: Advanced Search takes a start and end date of your choosing, on all four assistants and in cross-platform search.
Dates on Every Message: Each message carries its own date and time, in your time zone, in exports and in search results.
Conversation Size in Exports: Every export states the conversation's size in characters, words and messages.
Usage Beside the Message Box: Claude and Gemini show your usage next to the box you type in; on Claude it names the limit closest to running out and when it resets.
Folder Search Reaches Subfolders: Searching in Move to Folder finds the folders filed under the one you type, shown with their full path.

Improvements

Announcements Without a Release: The notice at the top of the features window is now served from our backend rather than compiled into the extension. Announcements can be published, corrected or taken down the same day, instead of waiting on a store review. It replaces a slot whose content was fixed at build time, which once left a postponed launch date on screen for a day because taking it down required shipping a new version.
Composer Dropdowns Fit Short Windows: The // prompt list, the .. and ## chain lists, and the @@ context-mention list opened with their top edge above the viewport on short windows, hiding the search field and the first results. They now stay inside the window on all four assistants.

Bug Fixes

Manage Chats Stopped Loading Part Way: On large accounts the chat list could stall part way through, showing only a fraction of the conversations and reading as data loss. Reported by a customer whose list stopped at 67 of 958 chats.
A Long Sync Could Undo an Archive: Archiving a conversation while a full sync was running could leave the archive count unchanged, and reloading did not help. Found on a Premium account holding roughly 1,720 conversations.
Dismissing a Paywall Closed the Window Behind It: Closing an upgrade prompt also closed the surface that raised it, so a free user who pressed Export in Manage Chats and dismissed the prompt lost their selection. Audited and fixed across eight gates on Claude, Gemini and Grok.
Folders Showed Stale Chat Names: A renamed conversation kept its old name inside a folder, and a deleted conversation could stay listed in one.
Carry Forward Worked Only Sometimes: "Carry this chat forward" and "Continue in fresh chat" could produce no message and no new conversation, with nothing on screen explaining why.
Claude Top-Bar Buttons Looked Like Claude's Own: Our Export, Bookmarks and Move-to-folder buttons sat beside Claude's Share button and had come to resemble it closely enough to be misread as native.

Version 5.0.29 to 5.0.31: August 2026

Major Features

Export From Cross-Platform Search: The "Search all platforms" view used to only link to what it found. It now exports too: every chat the query matched leaves as a single archive, shaped exactly like a bulk export from Manage Chats, so one search across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok is one download instead of four separate trips.
Findings Export: Export the passages that matched your search instead of the conversations holding them. Each finding carries enough of the exchange around it to read on its own, including the assistant's reply and not only what you typed. Available in Markdown and TXT on all four assistants.
Keep Your Prompt Library On This Device: A setting under Settings, Prompts stores your saved prompts and prompt chains on your own machine rather than on our servers. Syncing across devices becomes something you switch on, not a condition of using the library.
Floating Sidebar Panels: Your folder tree, and on ChatGPT the Pinned Folders, Pinned Chats, and Smart Tags tabs, can each be moved out of the assistant's own sidebar into a floating window you drag, resize, and keep across sessions. Docked stays the default. A panel that cannot find its place in the sidebar now moves itself out instead of not appearing at all, and returns once the sidebar is usable again.
Carry Forward From Any Chat's Menu: The cross-platform context handoff moved into the three-dot menu on any chat in the sidebar, so you can summarize a conversation and continue it elsewhere without opening it first.
Hide Filed Chats On Claude, Gemini, and Grok: The ChatGPT sidebar-declutter option now runs on the other three platforms. Hidden chats stay in their folders, still turn up in search, and the conversation you have open is never hidden.

Faster Folder Picker (ChatGPT): The folder and project picker opens immediately on large accounts instead of reading every message of every conversation just to draw a list of titles

Gemini Menu Redesign: Gemini's August redesign removed all four AI Toolbox items from the conversation three-dot menu; restored
Long Gemini Exports: Long Gemini conversations exported only their first stretch of messages, because Gemini returns a conversation one page at a time and only the first page was being read
Folder Tree Stability: The folder tree could vanish from the sidebar and reappear on its own, on all four platforms
Floating Panel On Claude, Gemini, and Grok: The floating panel did not render on those three platforms

Cross-Platform Search, Tags, Prompts & Folders: Search all four assistants at once with results grouped by platform and deep links to each chat. Smart Tag rules, prompt and chain libraries, and folder trees can all be shared across platforms, so your organization follows you rather than your login.
Search From Any Tab: New browser-level keyboard commands (default Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+.) open cross-platform search from any Chrome tab. These use Chrome's native command system, so the update installs silently with no new permissions and you can rebind them at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
Titles-Only Search Toggle: A switch in Advanced Search limits matching to conversation titles, for when you rename chats deliberately and want exactly those threads.
Context-Window Meter on ChatGPT: The live context gauge (already on Claude, Gemini, and Grok) came to ChatGPT, with a cross-platform handoff that summarizes a full conversation and continues it in a fresh chat on any assistant.
