ChatGPT Wrapped is OpenAI's "Your Year with ChatGPT," an optional end-of-year recap that launched on December 22, 2025 and reflects on how you used ChatGPT that year, with themes from your conversations and summary usage statistics. It only appears for eligible Free, Plus and Pro users in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand (and Go, Plus and Pro users in India) who have Reference saved memories and Reference chat history turned on. If you are not eligible, or you want your numbers at any point in the year, AI Toolbox (formerly ChatGPT Toolbox) adds a free ChatGPT Wrapped card built from usage metadata it records as you chat.

If you searched for ChatGPT Wrapped, you are probably looking for one of two things: OpenAI's own year-in-review, or a way to see how much you actually use ChatGPT. This guide covers both. It explains exactly what OpenAI's recap is, who gets it, how to open it and why it might be missing, then shows how to generate an AI Toolbox Wrapped card any time of year and what every number on it means.
OpenAI's official ChatGPT Wrapped: Your Year with ChatGPT
Your Year with ChatGPT is OpenAI's optional, personalized end-of-year experience. OpenAI rolled it out on December 22, 2025, describing it as a reflection on how you interacted with ChatGPT in 2025 that highlights high-level themes from your conversations and includes summary statistics about your usage over the year. Users with very limited activity see only basic chat statistics (ChatGPT release notes).
An eligible consumer plan and country: Free, Plus or Pro in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, or Go, Plus or Pro in India.
Reference saved memories turned on.
Reference chat history turned on.
A minimum level of conversation activity.
It is not available on Business (formerly Team), Enterprise or Edu accounts. At launch it was offered in English. Temporary Chats are not used to build it.
How to open it
If you are eligible, Your Year with ChatGPT appears as an entry point on your ChatGPT home screen on the web, iOS and Android. You can also ask ChatGPT directly for "Your Year with ChatGPT" to start the experience. It never opens automatically. Once you open it, it lives in your chat history as a conversation you can return to, with the same data controls as any other chat, and if you delete it OpenAI deletes it within 30 days. OpenAI says the experience is available to eligible users for a limited time.
Why you might not see it
OpenAI lists these reasons: Reference saved memories or Reference chat history is off, you are below the activity threshold, you are on a Team (now Business), Enterprise or Education account, the feature is still rolling out to your account, or you are in an unsupported country. If you switch both memory settings on, OpenAI says ChatGPT starts referencing your chat history to generate the recap, but it may not be available immediately.
Outside that annual recap, OpenAI's help center does not document an always-on personal usage dashboard for individual plans. The closest thing is a data export (Settings, Data controls, Export data), which arrives as a ZIP file of your chat history and account data, can take up to 7 days, and is not available in Business or Enterprise workspaces (OpenAI Help Center). That gives you files, not a streak, a heatmap or a shareable card.
How to create an AI Toolbox ChatGPT Wrapped card
AI Toolbox has its own ChatGPT Wrapped card, free on every plan, that you can generate any day of the year. It is separate from OpenAI's recap and does not depend on your memory settings, plan type or country. It counts activity that AI Toolbox records after you install it, so it does not include chats from before installation. Here is the flow.
Open the Usage Dashboard. Press Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows to open the AI Toolbox Command Palette and choose Usage Dashboard, or pin Usage Dashboard to a slot on the AI Toolbox Floating Toolbox. The dashboard opens with a stats bar (messages today, messaging streak, thinking today) and four cards: Messages Sent, Time Spent, Thinking Messages (Today) and Messaging Streak.
Click "Create & Share My ChatGPT Wrapped." The button is labeled "Free for everyone." Choose a period (This Week, This Month or This Year) and a format: Story (1080×1920, sized for Instagram or TikTok stories) or Card (1200×675, sized for X or LinkedIn).
Download as PNG or copy to clipboard. The preview renders with your numbers. Save the image or paste it straight into a post.

What every number on your AI Toolbox Wrapped card means
The card shows a headline message count, six stats and, in Story format, a mini activity heatmap. The example card above shows 23,734 messages sent this period, 1,589.5 hours spent, 5,568 thinking-mode uses, Friday as the busiest day, 3:00 PM as the peak hour, 1,500,816 words written and a $113.32 API equivalent.
Messages sent is the total for the period you picked (this week, this month or this year).
Hours spent is estimated from message timestamps: messages less than 30 minutes apart count as one session, and the time from the first to the last message in each session is added up.
Thinking-mode uses counts messages sent in thinking mode, separating heavy reasoning tasks from quick answers.
Busiest day and peak hour are the weekday and hour with the most messages, the same data the heatmap plots across a 7-day by 24-hour grid.
Words written is estimated from the characters you typed (about five characters per word). API equivalent estimates what that volume of input and output would cost at public API prices; the dashboard notes that actual costs may vary.
When the card is built from your synced data, it can also add fun facts, such as your peak-hour type and how your word count compares with an essay or a novel.
Is the AI Toolbox Wrapped card private?
AI Toolbox's usage tracker records metadata, not message content. It stores timestamps, character counts and the mode of each message to compute your totals, streaks and heatmap, and the dashboard states that message content is never stored. OpenAI's recap works differently: OpenAI says Your Year with ChatGPT is generated server-side from your conversations, like any other ChatGPT chat.
Cloud sync of those daily summaries is on by default and runs every 30 minutes on every plan, so your stats follow you across browsers. Free accounts sync the most recent 7 days on each run; Premium accounts sync up to 365 days and get a Sync Now button. The Wrapped card uses your synced summaries when they are available and falls back to the data stored in your browser. AI Toolbox runs on Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Arc). It does not run on Firefox.

How do I see my ChatGPT Wrapped?
If you are eligible, open ChatGPT on the web, iOS or Android and look for the Your Year with ChatGPT entry point on the home screen, or ask ChatGPT for "Your Year with ChatGPT." Why don't I see Your Year with ChatGPT?
OpenAI lists five reasons: Reference saved memories or Reference chat history is off, you have not met the minimum activity threshold, you are on a Team (now Business), Enterprise or Education account, the feature is still rolling out to you, or you are in an unsupported country. Turning both memory settings on can make you eligible, but the recap may not appear right away.

Does ChatGPT Wrapped work on Firefox?
