AI Toolbox Media Gallery: Find & Download Every ChatGPT Image (2026)
By Adi Leviim, Co-Founder of AI Toolbox, 7+ years building AI productivity tools.
The AI Toolbox Media Gallery is a feature of the AI Toolbox (formerly ChatGPT Toolbox) Chrome extension that collects every AI-generated image from your ChatGPT conversations into one searchable grid, where you can search by prompt, favorite your best images, and download them individually or as a batch ZIP organized by conversation. It is part of an extension trusted by 25,000+ active users with a 4.5/5 Chrome Web Store rating, on every Chromium browser, with a free plan and Premium at $9.99/month or $99 one-time lifetime.
ChatGPT scatters your generated images across hundreds of conversations and a separate Image Library at chatgpt.com/images, with no way to search by prompt and no bulk download. The Media Gallery brings every image, whatever model made it, into one place you can actually search, favorite, and export.
This is the feature guide. If you want to understand the image models behind your pictures (GPT Image 2, GPT-4o, DALL-E), see our ChatGPT image models guide.
What the Media Gallery does
The Media Gallery is a centralized hub inside ChatGPT for viewing, searching, favoriting, and downloading every image you have generated, accessible from one tab in the AI Toolbox sidebar.
Complete image overview - browse every generated image across all conversations in one grid (16 per page, infinite scroll)
Search by prompt text - find an image by what you asked for, something ChatGPT's native library cannot do
Image favorites - save your best images and filter to just favorites (2 on Free, unlimited on Premium)
Stats dashboard - see your total image count and favorites count at a glance
Full metadata - the exact prompt, Gen ID, Seed ID, and a link back to the source conversation for each image
Individual downloads - save any image at full resolution with one click
Batch ZIP download - export all images as a ZIP, one folder per conversation, named by chat title (Premium)
Expired-URL auto-refresh - ChatGPT image links expire; the gallery silently re-fetches them so images never break
Media Gallery vs ChatGPT's native Image Library
ChatGPT added a native Image Library at chatgpt.com/images in 2025 that auto-saves generated images to a browsable grid, but it has no prompt search, no favorites, and no batch download. The Media Gallery adds the management layer the native library is missing.

The native library is fine for reopening a recent image. Once you are generating dozens or hundreds across many chats, prompt search and batch ZIP export are what keep them usable.
How to use the Media Gallery
Install AI Toolbox from the Chrome Web Store, open ChatGPT, and click the Media Gallery tab in the sidebar.
Install AI Toolbox - add the extension from the Chrome Web Store (free) and open chatgpt.com so it syncs your history.
Open the Media Gallery tab - the toolbox tabs appear alongside ChatGPT's interface; your images load in a grid with a stats bar showing total count and favorites.
Search by prompt - type any keyword from a prompt to surface matching images.
Favorite the keepers - hover an image and click the heart, then use the Favorites tab to filter to them.
Open any image - view it full-size with its prompt, Gen ID, Seed ID, and a link back to the conversation. Click Copy Prompt to reuse it.
Download - save a single image, or use Download All (Premium) to export everything as a ZIP organized by conversation.
Downloading images: single vs batch ZIP
Any plan can download images one at a time at full resolution; Premium adds batch ZIP export organized into one folder per conversation.
Single image (Free): hover a thumbnail, click the download icon, and the image saves to your downloads folder at full resolution.
Batch ZIP (Premium): click Download All. Every image is fetched at full resolution and packaged into a ZIP that contains one folder per conversation, named after the chat title, so you always know which image came from where. Untitled chats fall back to a "Chat" folder, and any image without a conversation goes to "Uncategorized."

Who the Media Gallery is for
The Media Gallery suits anyone generating ChatGPT images at volume who needs to find and export them later.
Freelance designers - keep a searchable portfolio of AI concepts and export a client's project as one ZIP, folder per conversation.
Social media managers - build a library of campaign graphics, favorite the on-brand ones, and batch-download a month of visuals.
Educators and students - document experiments with prompts and seeds preserved, and collect visual aids for slides.
Developers and researchers - export prompt and metadata sets, and analyze how output changes as you iterate a prompt.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Media Gallery free?
Yes, on the free plan, which shows up to 5 images and 2 favorites with individual downloads. Premium unlocks unlimited browsing, unlimited favorites, and batch ZIP download for $9.99/month or $99 one-time lifetime. The free plan never expires.
Can I download all my ChatGPT images at once?
Yes, with Premium. The Download All button packages every image into a ZIP organized into one folder per conversation, named by chat title. On the Free plan you can download images individually.
Can I search ChatGPT images by their prompt?
Yes. The Media Gallery lets you type any keyword from a prompt to find matching images, which ChatGPT's native Image Library cannot do. You can also filter to your favorites.
Does it work with images from GPT Image 2, GPT-4o, and DALL-E?
Yes. The Media Gallery collects every image regardless of which model produced it, from today's GPT Image 2 back to GPT-4o native generation and legacy DALL-E. For details on the models themselves, see our ChatGPT image models guide.
Are my images stored in the cloud by AI Toolbox?
No. The Media Gallery displays images that were generated in your ChatGPT conversations and stored by OpenAI; AI Toolbox provides the organized interface to find and download them. Downloaded images are saved locally on your device.
What happens if I clear my ChatGPT history?
If you delete conversations that contain generated images, those images may no longer appear in your Media Gallery. Download anything important, individually or as a Premium ZIP, before deleting conversations.
Conclusion
The AI Toolbox Media Gallery turns ChatGPT's scattered, unsearchable images into one organized library: search by prompt, favorite your best, see full metadata, and export everything as a ZIP organized by conversation. It is the management layer ChatGPT's native Image Library is missing.
