Claude for Chrome is Anthropic's official browser-agent extension: it reads the page you are on, then clicks, types, fills forms, and navigates between pages using your existing logins. Anthropic pitches it for tools without a Claude connector, such as internal dashboards, legacy systems, and vendor portals. • Plans: generally available on every paid Claude plan, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise, since August 26, 2026. On Enterprise it is off by default until an admin turns it on. There is no Free plan access.
• Browser: Google Chrome on a computer. Anthropic states it is not supported on other Chromium-based browsers or on mobile devices.
• Side panel: on Max and Team plans the side panel runs as a Claude Cowork session, so sessions are saved to your history and your skills, plugins, and connectors work there; this is still rolling out to Pro. Enterprise gets the Cowork side panel once an admin enables Cowork in the cloud, otherwise the classic panel, which is also the only place recorded workflows are available.
• Approvals: the side panel starts in "Automatically approve" mode, where a safety classifier checks each action against your request and blocks what does not match. You can switch to "Manually approve" or "Skip all approvals."
• Hard limits in every mode: Anthropic's permissions guide says it will not make purchases or financial transactions, create accounts, handle credit card or ID data, permanently delete files or messages, or follow instructions found in emails or web content. It asks before entering sensitive information, granting authorizations, or changing permissions.

What matters for anyone comparing it to an organizer: it is an agent, not a chat manager. It does not index, search, folder, or export your past Claude conversations. If your goal is to find an old Claude thread or export a project's chats, Claude for Chrome is not the tool for that job.
