How to Cancel a Grok Subscription (SuperGrok and X Premium+, 2026)

To cancel a SuperGrok subscription you bought on the web, sign in and open grok.com/?_s=billing (or grok.com, Settings, Billing) and cancel from Manage Subscription. If you subscribed in the iPhone app, cancel in Apple's subscription settings; on Android, cancel in Google Play. If your Grok access comes with X Premium+, cancel that subscription on X, not on grok.com (xAI Grok FAQ, 2026). Where you paid decides where you cancel and who handles a refund: xAI for grok.com and Google Play, Apple for the App Store, and X for X Premium.

This guide covers every route xAI and X document as of October 2026: grok.com, iPhone and iPad, Android, X Premium and Premium+, and Grok Business licenses. It also explains what xAI's terms say about refunds, the 14-day withdrawal right in Europe, the most common reason the cancel button does nothing, and what to save before you go. Every step is taken from xAI's Grok FAQ and consumer terms, X's Help Center, and Apple's and Google's subscription pages, linked in the sources at the end.

First, Find Out Who Bills You

There are four ways to pay for Grok, and each one is cancelled in a different place. xAI's FAQ is explicit that where you manage the subscription "depends on where you subscribed," and X Premium is a separate product sold by X, which also includes Grok: X's Help Center says Premium+ comes with "SuperGrok access."

Where you subscribedWhere you cancelWhere a refund request goes
grok.com (SuperGrok Lite, SuperGrok, Plus or Heavy)grok.com/?_s=billing, or grok.com, Settings, BillingxAI, through its Refund Request form
Grok app for iPhone or iPadApple: Settings, your name, SubscriptionsApple
Grok app for AndroidGoogle Play, SubscriptionsxAI, through its Refund Request form
X Premium or Premium+X's Settings, on the platform where you subscribedX, not xAI
Grok Business licensesconsole.x.ai, team overview pageEligible refunds go to the team's billing method

xAI adds that a subscription "is tied to the account you bought it with," so a plan bought on the web can look missing in the app if you are signed in another way, with Apple, X or Google. Check that you are in the paying account before deciding you have nothing to cancel, or that you were charged twice.

How to Cancel SuperGrok on grok.com

If you paid on the website, cancel from grok.com's billing page. The steps are the same for every SuperGrok tier.

  1. Sign in to grok.com with the account that is being charged.
  2. Go to grok.com/?_s=billing, or open Settings and then Billing.
  3. Select Manage Subscription.
  4. Choose to cancel and confirm.

If Manage Subscription does not open, xAI's FAQ says ad blockers "or other apps/extensions can block it," and suggests an incognito window or a different browser. If that still fails, xAI says support "can escalate the cancellation to the billing team." The same billing page is where you change plan or update your card.

How to Cancel on iPhone or iPad

xAI's FAQ says that for App Store purchases "Apple handles the transaction," so you cancel in Apple's settings.

  1. Open the Settings app and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap the Grok subscription.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription. You might need to scroll down to find it.

Apple notes that if there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red text, the subscription is already cancelled. One xAI-specific trap: if you created the subscription with Apple's "Hide My Email" private relay address, xAI says you must sign in with Apple, not with the relay email through Google or email, for the subscription to be recognized.

How to Cancel on Android

Subscriptions bought in the Android app are cancelled in Google Play, while refunds for them are handled by xAI.

  1. On your Android device, go to subscriptions in Google Play, signed in to the Google account that bought it.
  2. Select the Grok subscription.
  3. Tap Cancel subscription and follow the instructions.

Google's help page says a cancelled subscription stays available until the end of the period you paid for and is not renewed after that.

How to Cancel Grok Through X Premium or Premium+

If you get Grok as part of X Premium+, the subscription belongs to X, so cancelling SuperGrok on grok.com is not the right place. X's Help Center says you "manage your subscription from Settings on the platform where you subscribed," and that Premium features expire at the end of your billing cycle.

  • Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. X's words: "To avoid further charges, cancel your Premium subscription at least 24 hours before the auto-renewal period. Canceling won't give you a refund for amounts already paid."
  • Bought in the X app? X says subscribers "must contact Apple or Google directly for all app-related refund and cancellation issues."
  • A gifted subscription is cancelled by messaging @Premium on X.
  • Refunds are X's call, not xAI's. xAI's FAQ says X is responsible for processing a refund for X Premium where required by law, through X's refund request form.

The link also runs the other way: grok.com's plans page lists "X Premium+ at no extra cost" on SuperGrok Heavy, claimed by connecting your X account. Neither xAI nor X says what happens to that bundled Premium+ when you cancel Heavy, so check your X account after the Heavy period ends.

How to Cancel Grok Business Licenses

Grok Business is managed per license in the xAI console, not from grok.com's personal billing page. xAI's license management guide says to open the overview page in console.x.ai, select the license type and quantity to cancel, and submit the cancellation request. Cancellations "may take a few days to process," eligible refunds go to the team's billing method, and cancelled licenses leave the pool once processed. You need the Billing Read-Write permission, which xAI says is typically granted only to team admins; members should ask their admin.

Can You Get a Refund for SuperGrok?

Not by default. xAI's terms of service say "You can cancel your paid subscription at any time; however, payments already made are non-refundable, except where required by law." The same section says xAI charges your payment method "on each periodic renewal until you cancel." xAI still reviews refund requests, and the route depends on where you paid.

  • grok.com or Google Play: submit the xAI Refund Request form, signed in with the account that holds the subscription. xAI says its team reviews the request and approved refunds are typically issued to your original payment method within 5 to 10 business days.
  • Apple App Store: "Apple handles all refunds for purchases made through the App Store," so request it from Apple at Apple's refund page.
  • X Premium: handled by X, as above.
  • Europe: xAI's terms give consumers in the EEA, UK and Switzerland a right to withdraw within 14 days of entering the contract, by an unequivocal statement emailed to xAI's support address listed in the terms. If you had a paid subscription, xAI says it repays the payments it received for the subscription term active at the time, within 14 days of your notice, to the same payment method. The terms state this does not include X Premium or Premium+ charges.
  • Charged on two platforms: xAI's FAQ says that if you genuinely have a charge on two platforms, contact support to sort out a refund.
  • A large charge you do not recognize is, according to xAI, often a SuperGrok Heavy yearly subscription rather than API usage. Check the purchase date before disputing it. xAI API credits are a separate purchase and are non-refundable.

What Happens After You Cancel

Cancelling stops the renewal; it is not account deletion. xAI documents deleting your account as a separate step, at accounts.x.ai or in grok.com, Settings, Data Controls, with 30 days to restore it by logging in again. See how to delete a Grok (xAI) account if that is what you want.

What xAI does not publish is how long SuperGrok stays active after a grok.com cancellation. Its FAQ and terms say you can cancel at any time and that payments already made are non-refundable, but not whether the paid features run to the end of the period. Google says Play subscriptions do, and X says Premium features expire at the end of the billing cycle. For a grok.com purchase, check grok.com's billing page after cancelling rather than assuming a date, and save anything you need before then.

Moving to Grok's free tier? AI Toolbox (formerly ChatGPT Toolbox) adds folders, search, export and a prompt library to grok.com, and none of it depends on whether you pay for SuperGrok. 40,000+ users, 4.7/5 on the Chrome Web Store. Add AI Toolbox to Chrome →

Save Your Grok Chats Before You Cancel

A cancellation changes your billing, not your account, but it is a good moment to take a copy of the chats you rely on. grok.com's own export covers everything at once: open Settings, then Data Controls, and select Export next to Export Account Data, which grok.com says downloads all data associated with your account.

To keep chosen conversations as readable files instead, AI Toolbox exports from inside grok.com. The free plan exports any single Grok conversation as TXT, with search (5 results per query) and 2 folders; Premium exports many at once as TXT, Markdown, JSON or PDF from the Manage Chats panel. The walkthrough is in bulk export and delete for Grok.

Troubleshooting a Grok Cancellation

  • Manage Subscription does nothing: turn off ad blockers and extensions or open an incognito window, as xAI recommends, then try another browser. Support can escalate the cancellation if it still fails.
  • You cannot find the subscription: it may be on X Premium+, on a different Apple or Google account, or tied to another login. xAI says X Premium+ access "only applies to the account linked with your X account."
  • The app keeps asking you to upgrade after you paid: xAI suggests restarting or reinstalling the app, logging out and clearing the cache, and confirming the subscription is active in your app store's Subscriptions list.
  • Your account was compromised: xAI says support can cancel the subscription on a compromised account. Contact them with your user ID and proof of ownership.

Limitations and What xAI's Own Billing Does Well

xAI's billing page cancels a web subscription in a few clicks, and it does not need any extension. Nothing in AI Toolbox cancels, pauses or changes a Grok, SuperGrok or X subscription. What this guide cannot tell you is what xAI has not published: whether a grok.com cancellation keeps SuperGrok running to the end of the period, and what happens to the X Premium+ bundled with SuperGrok Heavy. Refund decisions sit with xAI, Apple or X, so read the refund section as their stated policy, not a promise.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cancel my Grok subscription?

Cancel where you paid. For a grok.com purchase, open grok.com/?_s=billing (or Settings, Billing) and cancel from Manage Subscription. On iPhone, open Settings, your name, Subscriptions, then the Grok subscription and Cancel Subscription. On Android, cancel in Google Play subscriptions. If your Grok comes with X Premium+, cancel it in X's Settings.

How do I cancel SuperGrok on the website?

Sign in at grok.com and open grok.com/?_s=billing, or Settings, then Billing, and select Manage Subscription to cancel. If the button does not open, xAI says an ad blocker or another extension may be blocking it; try an incognito window or a different browser, and contact support if it still fails.

Can I get a refund for SuperGrok?

Payments already made are non-refundable under xAI's terms, except where required by law. You can still ask: use the xAI Refund Request form for grok.com and Google Play purchases, Apple for App Store purchases, and X for X Premium. Approved xAI refunds usually reach the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days. EEA, UK and Swiss consumers have a 14-day withdrawal right.

Does cancelling X Premium+ cancel SuperGrok?

X Premium+ includes SuperGrok access, so cancelling Premium+ on X ends the subscription that gives you that access; X says Premium features expire at the end of the billing cycle. A separate SuperGrok subscription bought on grok.com, Apple or Google Play is not affected and has to be cancelled where you bought it.

Why can't I cancel Grok in the app?

Because the store that billed you manages the subscription. App Store purchases are cancelled in Apple's Subscriptions settings and Google Play purchases in Play, while grok.com purchases are cancelled on grok.com's billing page. Make sure you are signed in with the same account that bought the subscription.

Does cancelling SuperGrok delete my Grok account?

No. Cancelling stops the renewal. Deleting your xAI account is a separate step at accounts.x.ai or in grok.com, Settings, Data Controls, and xAI lets you restore a deleted account within 30 days by logging in again.

Why was I charged a large amount by xAI?

xAI's FAQ says large unexpected invoices are often a SuperGrok Heavy yearly subscription rather than API usage. Check the purchase date and your subscription history first, then contact xAI support with the invoice number if you still do not recognize it.

Bottom Line

Cancelling Grok is quick once you know who bills you: grok.com's billing page for web purchases, Apple or Google Play for the apps, X's Settings for X Premium+, and the xAI console for Business licenses. Payments already made are non-refundable by default, but xAI, Apple and X each review refund requests, and Europe has a 14-day withdrawal right. Before you go, save what matters with grok.com's Export Account Data or with AI Toolbox, which keeps your Grok history organized and searchable whether or not you pay for SuperGrok.

A note on the company name. This guide says xAI throughout, because that is the name the product, the documentation and most readers still use. As of October 2026, x.ai's own legal pages, including the terms of service cited below, name the company SpaceXAI LLC. Nothing about Grok, the x.ai domain or the policies changed with the name, so if you click through and see SpaceXAI, you are in the right place.
