How to install AI Toolbox and pin it to your browser

Open AI Toolbox in the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome, then Add extension. A welcome page opens. Next, click the puzzle-piece icon at the top right of your browser and click the pin next to AI Toolbox, so its icon stays on your toolbar. Installing is free and there is no account to create.

Step by step

  1. Open the AI Toolbox page in the store

    In Chrome, Brave or Opera, open AI Toolbox in the Chrome Web Store. Opera may first ask you to allow extensions from the Chrome Web Store.

    In Microsoft Edge, open AI Toolbox in Edge Add-ons instead.

    You should see: The AI Toolbox store page with a blue Add to Chrome button. In Edge, the button says Get.

  2. Add it to your browser

    Click Add to Chrome. In Brave or Opera the button may show your browser's name, and in Edge it says Get. Your browser then shows a small box that lists what the extension can do. Click Add extension.

    An extension is a small add-on that gives your browser new buttons and tools.

    You should see: A new tab opens with the AI Toolbox welcome page on ai-toolbox.co. That means the install worked.

    If you had a ChatGPT tab open before you installed, refresh it once so AI Toolbox can load there.

  3. Open the Extensions menu

    Look at the top-right corner of your browser, next to the address bar. Click the icon that looks like a puzzle piece. This is the Extensions menu, a list of the extensions you have added.

    Edge, Brave and Opera have the same menu in the same corner. The icon may look a little different.

    You should see: A small list that includes AI Toolbox.

  4. Pin AI Toolbox to the toolbar

    In that list, find AI Toolbox and click the pin icon next to it. In Edge, click the eye icon next to it instead.

    Pinning keeps the AI Toolbox icon on your toolbar all the time, so you can reach it in one click.

    You should see: The AI Toolbox icon now sits on your toolbar, to the right of the address bar. It may show a small green NEW label.

  5. Click the AI Toolbox icon once

    Click the AI Toolbox icon you just pinned. A small panel opens with four cards: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok. This panel is where you turn AI Toolbox on for each AI site.

    Opening it once also removes the green NEW label.

    You should see: A panel called AI Toolbox with a card for each AI site and a switch on each card.

  6. Open ChatGPT to see it working

    Go to chatgpt.com and sign in as usual. A round AI Toolbox button appears in the bottom-right corner of the page. That button opens every feature.

    The first time, a short 3-step tour points to the button. Click Next to go through it and Got it at the end, or Skip tour to close it.

    After the tour, a small card above the button says Claude, Gemini and Grok are off in this browser. To use those sites too, follow Turn on AI Toolbox for Claude, Gemini and Grok.

    You should see: A round button in the bottom-right corner of ChatGPT, with a small label on top that names your AI Toolbox plan, such as FREE.

If something doesn't look right

I don't see the round AI Toolbox button on ChatGPT

Refresh the ChatGPT tab first. Tabs that were open before you installed need one refresh. The button shows on the ChatGPT home page and inside chats, but not in temporary chats or on settings pages. If it is still missing, click the AI Toolbox icon on your toolbar and check that the ChatGPT switch is green.

The AI Toolbox icon is not on my toolbar

It is hidden inside the Extensions menu. Click the puzzle-piece icon at the top right of your browser, then click the pin next to AI Toolbox (in Edge, the eye icon). The icon then stays on your toolbar.

The panel says Your browser is blocking AI Toolbox

Your browser's site access setting is stopping the extension. Click Open extension settings in the panel. In Chrome, Brave and Opera, find Site access and choose On all sites. In Edge, scroll to Site access and switch on each site in the list. Then refresh the AI site.

Nothing happens when I click Add to Chrome

On a work or school computer, your IT team may block new extensions. Ask them to allow AI Toolbox, or use a personal computer. On a personal computer, close and reopen the store page, then try again.

Can I install it on my phone?

No. AI Toolbox is a desktop browser extension. It does not work in phone or tablet apps, and there is no mobile version. Use it in Chrome, Edge, Brave or Opera on a computer.

Installing AI Toolbox is free on every browser it supports, and there is no separate AI Toolbox account to create. Each AI site has a free plan. See Free vs Premium for the limits.

Questions people ask

Is the AI Toolbox extension free?

Yes. AI Toolbox is free to install from the Chrome Web Store and Edge Add-ons, and most features have a free version or a free preview. Premium removes the limits, such as the 2 top-level folders and 5 search results on the free plan. You never need a credit card to install it.

Does AI Toolbox work in Microsoft Edge?

Yes. AI Toolbox has its own listing in Edge Add-ons. Open it in Edge, click Get, then Add extension. To pin it, click the puzzle-piece icon at the top right of Edge and click the eye icon next to AI Toolbox. Everything else works the same as in Chrome.

Can I get AI Toolbox on mobile, or is Firefox not supported?

No. AI Toolbox works in desktop browsers built on Chromium: Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera. It is not available for Firefox or Safari, and it does not run on phones or tablets. Your folders and prompts are saved to your account, so they appear on any computer where you install it.

Do I need to create an AI Toolbox account?

No. AI Toolbox has no sign-up. It uses the account you are already signed in to on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok. Your folders and prompts are saved under that AI account, so they come back when you sign in to the same account on another computer.

How do I pin a Chrome extension to the toolbar?
