AI Toolbox Free vs Premium: what each plan includes

AI Toolbox is free to use with limits, such as 2 top-level folders and 5 search results. Premium removes the limits on one AI site, and All Access covers ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok. There is no separate account: your plan is linked to the AI account you are signed in to. Any Upgrade button opens the pricing page.

Step by step

  1. Check which plan you are on

    Look at the small label on top of the round AI Toolbox button in the bottom-right corner of the AI site.

    Your plan is linked to the account you are signed in to on that site. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini use that account's email. Grok uses your X account.

    You should see: FREE means the free plan. MONTHLY, ANNUAL, LIFETIME or TEAM means Premium is active on this site. It says PREMIUM while AI Toolbox has not yet found out which paid plan you have.

  2. Open an upgrade window

    Click any option that shows a lock or a Premium tag, or reach a free limit. A window opens that explains what Premium adds.

    On ChatGPT, free users also see an Unlock every feature card at the top of the Command Palette. Its Upgrade button skips this window and opens the pricing page right away.

    You should see: A window with a Premium tag, an Upgrade to Premium button and a Maybe later link.

  3. Pick a plan on the pricing page

    Click Upgrade to Premium. The pricing page opens in a new tab.

    Pick the AI site you want: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok. Monthly, Annual and Lifetime plans cover that one site. All Access covers all four sites in one purchase.

    You should see: The pricing page with the plans for the site you picked.

  4. Enter the right email or X handle at checkout

    For ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, type the exact email you use to sign in to that site. For Grok, type the @handle of the X account you use for Grok, not an email.

    This is how Premium finds your account, so a different email will not work.

    You should see: A payment confirmation page on ai-toolbox.co after you pay.

  5. Refresh the AI site

    Go back to the AI site's tab and refresh the page. It can take up to a minute for Premium to show.

    You should see: The label on the round button changes from FREE to your plan, such as LIFETIME.

    On ChatGPT, a tab that was open while you paid checks again when you come back to it. A note then says Premium is active, with a Reload button.

  6. On a Teams plan? Activate your seat instead

    If your company gave you a seat, you do not buy anything. In any upgrade window, click On a Teams plan? Activate your seat. Type the email your team invited and click Email me a sign-in link.

    Open the link in that email in the same browser where AI Toolbox is installed, then refresh the AI site. See Accept a team invite.

    You should see: The label shows TEAM on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok.

If something doesn't look right

I paid but the label still says FREE

Refresh the AI site and wait up to a minute. Check that you are signed in to the AI account with the same email you typed at checkout. If the email was wrong, write to [email protected] and the team will fix it.

I bought ChatGPT Premium but Claude still says FREE

Premium is linked to one AI site. A ChatGPT plan unlocks ChatGPT only. To unlock Claude, Gemini and Grok too, you need a plan for that site or All Access, which covers all four.

Grok still shows FREE after I bought Grok Premium

Grok Premium is linked to the X handle you typed at checkout. Open grok.com or x.com/i/grok while signed in to that X account and refresh. If the handle was mistyped, email [email protected] and the team will correct it.

I switched accounts and my folders are gone

Your folders, prompts and plan belong to the AI account you are signed in to. Sign back in to the other account and they come back. Nothing is deleted when you switch.

Free and Premium

Most features have a free version or a free preview, and the free limits below are exact. A few are Premium only. Premium is unlimited. For current prices, see the pricing page.

  • Folders: 2 top-level folders on each site, with unlimited subfolders inside them.
  • Search History: the first 5 results. Search all platforms: a preview of the 5 newest results.
  • Saved prompts: 2. Prompt chains: 2. Prompt Library: 5 prompts.
  • Context mentions with @@: 3 per day, one per message.
  • Export: one chat at a time as a TXT file, from inside the chat or ticked in a list such as Manage Chats. Markdown, JSON, PDF and exporting more than one chat at once need Premium.
  • Smart Tags: automatic sorting for your 50 most recent chats, 3 Smart Tags of your own, and adding up to 5 chats at a time by hand.
  • Accent colors: 2 of the 8 colors.
  • Deleting chats from Manage Chats, search results or Smart Tags: up to 5 chats at a time on every site. On ChatGPT, archiving works the same way.
  • Premium only: folders on all platforms and carrying a chat forward. Premium removes every limit above.

Is AI Toolbox free?

Yes. AI Toolbox is free to install and use on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok, with limits such as 2 top-level folders, 5 search results, 2 saved prompts and TXT export for one chat at a time. Premium removes those limits. You can stay on the free plan as long as you like.

Does ChatGPT Premium in AI Toolbox also unlock Claude?

No. AI Toolbox Premium unlocks the AI Toolbox extension only. It is not an AI subscription. You keep using your own ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok account, free or paid, and AI Toolbox adds folders, search, export and other tools on top of it.

Do I need to log in to AI Toolbox after buying Premium?

No. AI Toolbox has no login. It checks the account you are signed in to on the AI site. Pay with the same email you use on ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, or your X handle for Grok, then refresh the AI site. The label above the round button changes from FREE to your plan's name.

How do I activate AI Toolbox Premium on Grok?

At checkout, type the @handle of the X account you use for Grok in the X handle field, not an email. Then open grok.com or x.com/i/grok while signed in to that X account and refresh. The FREE label above the round AI Toolbox button changes to your plan's name.

How much does AI Toolbox Premium cost?
