How to turn on AI Toolbox for Claude, Gemini and Grok

Click the AI Toolbox icon on your toolbar to open its panel. ChatGPT is on from the start. Click the switch on the Claude, Gemini or Grok card, then click Allow when your browser asks. Open tabs of that site reload by themselves, and the round AI Toolbox button appears there. Turning a site on is free.

Step by step

  1. Open the AI Toolbox panel

    Click the AI Toolbox icon on your toolbar, at the top right of your browser. If you cannot see it, click the puzzle-piece icon there first and pick AI Toolbox from the list.

    You should see: A panel called AI Toolbox with four cards, one for each AI site.

    On ChatGPT you may also see a card that says Claude, Gemini and Grok are off in this browser. Its Turn them on button opens this same panel.

  2. Check the ChatGPT card

    ChatGPT is switched on from the start, so its switch is already green. You do not need to do anything for ChatGPT.

    If you are on one of the AI sites right now, its card is highlighted. It shows Active when AI Toolbox is on there, or Off when it is not.

    You should see: A green switch on the ChatGPT card.

  3. Switch on Claude, Gemini or Grok

    Click the grey switch on the card of the site you want. Each site is separate, so do this once for every site you use.

    You should see: Your browser shows its own small box asking to let AI Toolbox read and change data on that site.

  4. Click Allow

    In the browser's box, click Allow. This lets AI Toolbox add its buttons to that site.

    For Grok, the box lists x.com, twitter.com and grok.com, because you can use Grok on X and on grok.com.

    You should see: The switch turns green. Any open tabs of that site reload by themselves so AI Toolbox can start there.

  5. If no box appeared, open the panel in a tab

    Sometimes the browser's box closes together with the small panel, so the switch stays grey. When that happens, a button called Open in a tab instead appears under the cards.

    Click Open in a tab instead. The same panel opens as a normal tab. Click the switch again, then click Allow.

    You should see: The switch turns green in the tab.

  6. Open the site and find the round button

    Go to claude.ai, gemini.google.com or grok.com and sign in as usual. On X, open the Grok page at x.com/i/grok.

    A round AI Toolbox button sits in the bottom-right corner. The first time, a short message at the top of the page says AI Toolbox is active there, for example AI Toolbox is now active on Claude. It closes by itself after a few seconds.

    You should see: A round AI Toolbox button in the bottom-right corner of the site.

If something doesn't look right

The switch will not stay on

The browser's permission box probably closed before you could click it. Click Open in a tab instead, then use the switch in that tab. If no box appears even there, a work or school policy may block the site. Ask your IT team, or check chrome://policy for ExtensionSettings or URLBlocklist.

The switch is green but there is no button on the site

Refresh the site's tab. The button shows only on the home page and inside chats: on claude.ai, gemini.google.com, grok.com, and x.com/i/grok on X. It does not show on the X timeline, on settings pages or in Claude incognito chats.

It worked on my other computer. Why is it off here?

Browsers do not copy this permission between computers, so switch each site on again in this browser. Your folders and prompts are saved to your account and come back as soon as you sign in to the same AI account.

The panel says Your browser is blocking AI Toolbox

Click Open extension settings. In Chrome, Brave and Opera, find Site access and choose On all sites. In Edge, scroll to Site access and switch on each site in the list. Then refresh the AI site.

How do I turn AI Toolbox off for one site?

Open the AI Toolbox panel and click that site's green switch so it turns grey. For Claude, Gemini and Grok this removes the permission right away. For ChatGPT, open ChatGPT tabs reload without AI Toolbox. Your saved data is not deleted.

Questions people ask

Does AI Toolbox work with Claude?

Yes. AI Toolbox works on claude.ai after you switch it on. Click the AI Toolbox icon on your toolbar, flip the Claude switch and click Allow. Open Claude tabs reload, and the round AI Toolbox button appears in the bottom-right corner with search, folders, export, prompts and more.

Why is Gemini off in AI Toolbox?

Claude, Gemini and Grok start switched off, because your browser asks you before an extension can work on a new site. Click the AI Toolbox icon on your toolbar, click the Gemini switch and click Allow. Open Gemini tabs reload and the AI Toolbox button appears on gemini.google.com.

Does AI Toolbox work on Grok in X or only on grok.com?

Both. When you switch Grok on, AI Toolbox asks for x.com, twitter.com and grok.com at once. On X it works on the Grok page at x.com/i/grok. Your Grok folders, prompts and plan are the same on both, because they are linked to your X account.

What permission does AI Toolbox ask for?

When you switch on Claude, Gemini or Grok, your browser asks to let AI Toolbox read and change data on that site only. That lets AI Toolbox add its buttons and read your chat list for search and folders. ChatGPT access is part of the install, so it asks nothing extra for ChatGPT.

Do I need to switch the sites on again after an update?

No. Once a site is switched on in a browser, AI Toolbox stays on there through updates. You only switch sites on again in a new browser or on a new computer, because browsers do not copy this permission. Your saved folders and prompts come back automatically.
