How to see your ChatGPT usage stats
AI Toolbox counts the messages you send in ChatGPT and shows them in a Usage Dashboard. Click the round button in the bottom-right corner to open the Command Palette, type usage and click Usage Dashboard. Free users see today's messages, time spent, streak and rate limit status. Premium adds charts, a heatmap and full statistics.
Step by step
Step 1: Open the Command Palette
Click the round AI Toolbox button in the bottom-right corner of chatgpt.com. A search window called the Command Palette opens.
Shortcut: press Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows.
You should see: A window with a box that says Search AI Toolbox features...
Step 2: Open the Usage Dashboard
Type usage in the box. Click Usage Dashboard in the list.
You should see: A window called Usage Dashboard with colored numbers at the top.
Step 3: Read today's numbers
The top row shows how many messages you sent today, your streak (days in a row you used ChatGPT), and how many thinking messages you sent today.
Below it are four cards: Messages Sent, Time Spent, Thinking Messages (Today) and Messaging Streak.
You should see: Numbers for today, and your best streak under Messaging Streak if it was longer.
Step 4: Check your rate limit status
Look at Rate Limit Status. On plans with no message cap, it shows your message count and Unlimited. On Plus, it shows Messages Used out of an estimated limit, plus a reset time once you have used half.
If AI Toolbox could not tell your plan, it shows ? / ? and a menu that says Select your ChatGPT plan. Click the menu and pick your plan.
You should see: Your message count with Unlimited, or a bar showing how much you have used.
These are estimates counted by AI Toolbox. ChatGPT's own limits can change, so treat them as a guide.
Step 5: See charts and statistics (Premium)
With Premium, scroll down to see Message History (a bar chart you can switch between Daily and Weekly), an Activity Heatmap of when you use ChatGPT, and Statistics.
On the free plan these parts are blurred with a lock and Unlock Full Analytics.
You should see: Charts of your messages over the last 30 days and your busiest hours.
Step 6: Make your ChatGPT Wrapped card
Click Create & Share My ChatGPT Wrapped. It is free for everyone. Pick This Week, This Month or This Year, and a size: Story (1080x1920) or Card (1200x675).
Click Download as PNG to save the picture, or Copy to Clipboard to paste it somewhere.
You should see: A picture that sums up your ChatGPT use, ready to share.
Step 7: Put it on a quick button (optional)
Move your mouse over the round button in the bottom-right corner. Five small quick buttons fan out. Right-click one you use less.
In the list called Pin a feature to this slot, click Usage Dashboard.
You should see: The quick button now opens the Usage Dashboard with one click.
That's it. You have finished every tutorial in this section.
If something doesn't look right
I can't find Usage Dashboard in the Command Palette
It may be switched off. Open Settings, find Usage & Analytics, and switch on Usage Dashboard. Then open the Command Palette and type usage again.
My numbers are zero or too low
The dashboard counts messages you send on chatgpt.com while AI Toolbox is on. Messages sent in the ChatGPT phone app or desktop app, or before you installed AI Toolbox, are not counted.
The rate limit shows ? / ?
AI Toolbox could not tell which ChatGPT plan you have. Click the Select your ChatGPT plan menu under Rate Limit Status and choose your plan.
The charts are blurred
Message History, Activity Heatmap and Statistics are Premium. The numbers at the top, Rate Limit Status and the Wrapped card are free.

What ChatGPT does on its own
ChatGPT has a Usage & billing page in Settings for Work and Codex, where eligible plans see limits and usage history. OpenAI says regular chat usage is not included in those views.
The AI Toolbox Usage Dashboard counts your regular ChatGPT chat messages sent on chatgpt.com, with daily numbers, streaks and, on Premium, charts of when you use ChatGPT most.
