How to keep ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok chats in one folder

Folders on all platforms is an AI Toolbox Premium feature that keeps chats from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok in one folder tree. Open Manage Folders on any of the four sites and click All platforms. Create a folder, open it, and click Add chats to pick chats from any site. Free users see an upgrade window instead.

Step by step

  1. Open Manage Folders

    Click the round AI Toolbox button in the bottom-right corner. On ChatGPT, click Manage Folders in the Command Palette (it is also one of the five quick buttons that appear when you hover over the round button).

    On Claude, Gemini or Grok, click Manage Folders in the AI Toolbox list.

    You should see: A window called Manage Folders.

  2. Click All platforms

    At the top of the Manage Folders window, click All platforms.

    The first time, a card says All your AI chats in one place. Click Turn on cross-platform features. Your chats are indexed privately on your device and are never uploaded.

    You should see: A window called Folders on all platforms.

  3. Create a folder

    Click Add Folder at the top of the window. Type a name, for example Research, and click Save.

    You should see: Your new folder in the list.

  4. Open the folder and click Add chats

    Click the folder's name to open it. Then click Add chats at the top of the window.

    You should see: A list of your chats from every site, with buttons at the top to show All chats or only one site's chats.

  5. Tick chats from any site

    Type part of a title in Search chat titles, or click a site's name to show only its chats. Tick every chat you want. Your ticks stay when you switch between sites.

    Click the Add button at the bottom. It shows how many chats you picked.

    You should see: The chats inside the folder, each with a colored dot that shows which site it is from.

  6. Bring in a site's own folders (optional)

    Click Folders on all platforms at the top left to go back to the top level. There is a list called Folders from each site. Next to the site you are on, click its button, for example Add Claude folders.

    Each site's folders can only be added from that site. To add your Gemini folders, open this window on Gemini and click the button there.

    You should see: That site's row now says In sync. A chat you file in either place shows up in both.

  7. Open a chat from the folder

    Click any chat in the folder. It opens on its own site in a new tab.

    To see these folders on the left side of the page, look at the top of My Folders. There are two buttons: the site's name and All platforms. Click All platforms.

    You should see: The chat opens in a new tab on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok.

If something doesn't look right

Clicking All platforms opens an upgrade window

Folders on all platforms is part of Premium on the site you are on. Upgrade that site, or get All Access for all four. Your own folders on each site keep working on the free plan.

Chats from one site are missing from the Add chats list

The list shows the chats AI Toolbox has read on this computer. Open the missing site in a tab, signed in, with the site switched on in the AI Toolbox panel. Its chats appear in the list after a short while.

A chat in the folder says syncing

AI Toolbox has not read that chat on this computer yet. Open its site in a tab and wait a moment. The title then appears. You can still remove it with the X on its row.

I can't add my Claude folders from ChatGPT

Each site's folders can only be added from that site. Open claude.ai, open Manage Folders, click All platforms, and click the button for Claude in Folders from each site.

I don't see the All platforms button in My Folders

The button shows only for Premium users with cross-platform features on. Open Settings from the round button and switch on Use my chats across all platforms, then refresh the page. On Grok it is on grok.com only, because X has no folder list.

Can I drag chats into these folders?

No, chats are not dragged into folders. Open the folder and use Add chats, as shown in steps 4 and 5.

Free and Premium

Premium only. On the free plan, clicking All platforms opens an upgrade window. Each site's own folders stay free, with 2 top-level folders and unlimited subfolders.

  • Premium only. Free users keep each site's own folders, with 2 top-level folders and unlimited subfolders.
  • Folders nest as deep as you like, and one folder can hold chats from all four sites.
  • Each site's folders can only be added from that site. After that, they stay in sync both ways.
  • Only chats cross between sites. ChatGPT GPTs and projects stay in ChatGPT folders.

Questions people ask

Can I put ChatGPT and Claude chats in the same folder?

Yes, with AI Toolbox Premium. Open Manage Folders on ChatGPT or Claude, click All platforms, create a folder and use Add chats to tick chats from both sites. The same folder can also hold Gemini and Grok chats. Each chat still opens on its own site.

Is Folders on all platforms free in AI Toolbox?

No, Folders on all platforms is a Premium feature. On the free plan, clicking All platforms in Manage Folders opens an upgrade window. Each site's own AI Toolbox folders stay free, with 2 top-level folders and unlimited subfolders, so you can still organize every site separately.

Does adding a chat to an all-platforms folder change the chat?

No. AI Toolbox only saves a link to the chat in the folder. The chat itself stays on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok exactly as it was. Removing it from the folder, or deleting the folder, never deletes the chat on its site.

How do I add my existing Gemini folders to all platforms?

Open gemini.google.com, click the round AI Toolbox button, open Manage Folders and click All platforms. In Folders from each site, click the button for Gemini. AI Toolbox copies your Gemini folders in and keeps them in sync. Each site's folders can only be added from that site.

Can I see all-platform folders in the sidebar?

Yes. Premium users with cross-platform features on see two buttons at the top of My Folders on the left side of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and grok.com: the site's name and All platforms. Click All platforms to show the shared folders there. Click the site's name to go back to its own folders.
