How to search ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok chats at once

AI Toolbox can search your ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok chats together. Press Ctrl+Shift+Period (Cmd+Shift+Period on Mac) in any tab, or click Search all platforms in Search History. Turn on cross-platform features the first time, then type a word. The free plan shows the 5 newest results, and Premium shows every result.

Step by step

  1. Open Search all platforms

    Press Cmd+Shift+Period on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+Period on Windows. Period is the full stop key. This works from any tab, even one that is not an AI site.

    You can also open Search History on any AI site and click Search all platforms at the top of it.

    You should see: A window called Search all platforms. If you pressed the keys in a tab that is not an AI site, it opens in a new tab.

  2. Turn on cross-platform features (first time only)

    The first time, a card says All your AI chats in one place. Click Turn on cross-platform features.

    Your chats are indexed privately on your device and are never uploaded. One switch covers all four sites. You can turn it off later in Settings, under Cross-platform features.

    You should see: A search box that says Search across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok.

  3. Open each AI site once

    Under the search box, a line lists the four sites. Each one shows how many chats it has ready, or syncing… while AI Toolbox is still reading that site.

    A site's chats are added when you open that site in a tab. So open ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok once each, signed in as usual.

    You should see: A number of chats next to each site instead of syncing…

  4. Type what you are looking for

    Click in the search box and type a word or phrase from the chat you want. You do not need to press Enter.

    You should see: Results grouped by site, each group with a colored dot and a number of matches. Each result shows the chat title, its date and the matching text.

  5. Open a result

    Click a result to open that chat on its own site.

    You should see: The chat opens in a new tab on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok.

  6. See every result or export them (Premium)

    On the free plan you see the 5 newest results across all sites. Under them, a line for each site says how many more it holds. Click Unlock all results to see the plans.

    With Premium you see every result. Tick the results you want and click Export results to download them as one ZIP file, with a folder for each site.

    You should see: Free: a note that the free plan shows the 5 most recent results. Premium: every match, with a box to tick next to each one.

If something doesn't look right

The shortcut does not open the search

Another app or extension may use the same keys. Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts (edge://extensions/shortcuts in Edge), find AI Toolbox and give "Search all AI platforms (works in any tab)" new keys. Or open Search History on an AI site and click Search all platforms.

A site stays on syncing or has no results

Open that site in a tab and make sure you are signed in. Its chats are added while it is open, which can take a minute for a long history. The site must also be switched on in the AI Toolbox panel on your toolbar.

Every site shows off

Cross-platform features are switched off. Click Turn on cross-platform features in the window, or open Settings from the round AI Toolbox button and switch on Use my chats across all platforms.

I have Premium but I still see only 5 results

When you search from an AI site, AI Toolbox checks your plan on that site. If you bought ChatGPT Premium, search from ChatGPT, or use the shortcut in a tab that is not an AI site. All Access gives full results everywhere.

My results are gone after I turned the switch off

Turning off Use my chats across all platforms removes the search index from this device. Your chats are not touched. Turn it back on and open each site again to rebuild it.

Questions people ask

Can you search ChatGPT and Claude chats at the same time?

Yes, with the AI Toolbox extension. Press Ctrl+Shift+Period on Windows or Cmd+Shift+Period on Mac, turn on cross-platform features once, and type a word. Results from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok appear together, grouped by site. Click any result to open that chat on its own site.

Is searching all AI platforms free in AI Toolbox?

Yes, with a limit. On the free plan, Search all platforms shows the 5 newest results across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok, plus how many more each site holds. Premium shows every result and adds Advanced search filters and exporting the results as a ZIP file.

Does AI Toolbox upload my chats to search them?

No. For Search all platforms, AI Toolbox builds its search index privately on your device and never uploads your chats. That is also why the index stays on one computer. Turning off Use my chats across all platforms in Settings removes the index from that device.

What is the shortcut to search all my AI chats?

The AI Toolbox shortcut is Cmd+Shift+Period on Mac and Ctrl+Shift+Period on Windows. It opens Search all platforms from any browser tab, even when no AI site is open. If another app uses those keys, set new ones at chrome://extensions/shortcuts in Chrome or edge://extensions/shortcuts in Edge.

Why are my Gemini chats missing from the search?

AI Toolbox adds a site's chats when you open that site. Open gemini.google.com in a tab, signed in, and wait for Gemini to show a number instead of syncing in the Search all platforms window. Gemini must also be switched on in the AI Toolbox panel on your toolbar.

Can I export search results from ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini together?

Yes, with AI Toolbox Premium. In Search all platforms, tick the results you want and click Export results. Pick Markdown, plain text, JSON or PDF. You get one ZIP file with a folder for each site and one file for every matching chat.
