How to use the Prompt Library in Claude

The AI Toolbox Prompt Library is a collection of ready-made prompts sorted by category. Open it from the round button, pick a category, click a prompt, and click Use Prompt to put it in Claude's message box. Save Prompt keeps it in your own list. The free plan opens the first 5 categories. Premium opens every category.

Step by step

  1. Open the Prompt Library

    Open claude.ai on a new chat or an open chat. In the bottom-right corner of the page there is a round AI Toolbox button. Click it. A list of features opens. Click Prompt Library.

    You should see: A window called Prompt Library with a search box and prompt cards.

  2. Choose a category

    Click the category menu at the top of the window (it starts on Marketing) and pick a topic. Categories marked (Premium) open an upgrade window on the free plan.

    You should see: Prompts from that category.

  3. Search or sort (optional)

    Type a word in the search box to filter prompts. Use the menu next to the category menu to switch between Newest and Most Popular.

    You should see: The list updates as you type.

  4. Open a prompt

    Click a prompt card to read the full text.

    You should see: The whole prompt with the buttons Use Prompt, Copy and Save Prompt.

  5. Use it in Claude

    Click Use Prompt. The window closes and the prompt goes into Claude's message box. If you had already typed something, the prompt is added below it.

    Change any part you need, then send the message.

    You should see: The prompt text in Claude's message box.

  6. Save it for later (optional)

    Click Save Prompt to add it to your own prompts. Afterwards you can insert it any time by typing // in the message box.

    You should see: The message Prompt successfully saved.

If something doesn't look right

Prompt Library is missing from the AI Toolbox list

It is hidden when Prompt tools is off. Open Settings, find Prompts, and switch Prompt tools on.

A category opens an upgrade window

The free plan includes the first 5 categories. Categories marked (Premium) need Premium. Pick one of the open categories from the category menu at the top.

Save Prompt opens an upgrade window

You already have 2 saved prompts, the free limit. Delete one in Manage Prompts or upgrade. You can still click Use Prompt without saving.

Some prompt cards are blurred

Free users see the first 5 prompts in each category. The blurred cards are part of Premium.

Free and Premium

The free plan opens the first 5 categories and shows the first 5 prompts in each. Premium opens every category and every prompt. Prompts you save with Save Prompt count toward your saved prompts (2 on the free plan, unlimited on Premium).

  • Free: the first 5 categories, 5 prompts in each.
  • Premium: every category and every prompt.
  • Use Prompt and Copy do not use up any limit. Save Prompt counts as one of your saved prompts.

What Claude does on its own

Claude has profile preferences that apply to all your chats, and paid plans can add instructions to each project. They tell Claude how you like to work.

The Prompt Library adds ready-made starting points for tasks like writing, marketing or coding, which you can use once or save to your own list.

Can I save a library prompt to my own list?

Yes. Open a prompt in the AI Toolbox Prompt Library and click Save Prompt. It moves into Manage Prompts, and from then on you can insert it by typing two slashes in Claude's message box. Saved prompts count toward your limit: 2 on the free plan, unlimited on Premium.

Does the Prompt Library work on ChatGPT too?

Yes. AI Toolbox offers the same Prompt Library on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok, and prompts you save from it go into one shared list. The free plan limits the categories in the same way on every platform, and Premium unlocks the full library everywhere you use it.
