How to export or delete many Gemini chats at once

Open the round AI Toolbox button and click Manage Chats. Tick the chats you want, or use Select all. Then pick a format and click Export to get one ZIP file, or click Delete to remove them from Gemini. The free plan deletes up to 5 chats at a time and exports one chat as a Text file. Premium removes the limits.

Step by step

  1. Open Manage Chats

    Go to gemini.google.com. Click the round AI Toolbox button in the bottom-right corner of the page. A window called AI Toolbox opens with a list of features.

    Click Manage Chats.

    You should see: A window called Manage Chats with a list of all your Gemini chats, including chats with Gems.

  2. Find the chats you want

    Type part of a chat's title in the Search chat titles box at the top. The list shrinks to the chats that match.

    You should see: Only the chats whose titles contain your words.

  3. Tick the chats

    Tick the box next to each chat you want. To pick every chat in the list, tick Select all.

    You should see: A count such as 3 selected above the list.

  4. Export them to one file

    At the bottom, choose a format: TXT, Markdown, JSON or PDF. Then click Export.

    A bar shows the progress. For a very big export, Chrome may ask where to save the file.

    On the free plan, tick just one chat and keep TXT. It downloads as one Text file. Many chats and the other formats are Premium.

    You should see: The words Export complete, then a ZIP file in your downloads with one file per chat.

    Need to stop early? Click Stop and keep what is done. The file keeps every chat finished so far.

  5. Or delete them

    Click Delete. A warning appears: Permanently delete the selected conversations? This cannot be undone.

    Click Delete again to confirm, or Cancel to go back. Deleted chats are removed from Gemini and from your AI Toolbox folders.

    The free plan deletes up to 5 chats at a time. If you ticked more, AI Toolbox keeps the first 5 you ticked and says Free plan allows 5 chats per action. Upgrade for unlimited.

    You should see: The word Deleted with the number of chats removed.

If something doesn't look right

An upgrade window opened when I clicked Export

Exporting more than one chat, or picking Markdown, JSON or PDF, is Premium. Click Maybe later and the Manage Chats window is still there with your ticks. On the free plan, tick one chat, keep TXT and click Export, or use Export Conversation.

The list says Loading... or No conversations found

AI Toolbox is still copying your chat list from Gemini. Wait a few seconds. If chats are still missing, close the window, open the AI Toolbox button, click Settings, and under Data & Storage click Re-sync now.

Refresh the Gemini page. The left-side list updates after a refresh.

The export seems stuck

Long chats and PDF files take longer. Leave the tab open. If you want what is done so far, click Stop and keep what is done and the ZIP file keeps every finished chat.

How do I open the ZIP file?

Double-click the ZIP file in your Downloads folder. Windows and Mac both open it and show one file per chat inside.

Free and Premium

Free users can open Manage Chats, tick chats, delete up to 5 chats at a time and export one ticked chat as Text. Premium exports and deletes as many chats as you want, in every format.

  • Free: open Manage Chats, search and tick chats, delete up to 5 chats at a time, and export one chat at a time as TXT.
  • Premium: export any number of chats to one ZIP file (TXT, Markdown, JSON or PDF) and delete any number of chats at once.
  • Deleting is permanent and removes the chats from Gemini itself.

What Gemini does on its own

Gemini lets you delete a chat from its own menu, one at a time. Gemini Apps Activity can also delete activity by time: the last hour, the last day, all time or a custom range.

AI Toolbox lets you choose exact chats by title, including chats with Gems, and export or delete just those in one go.
