How to save prompts and reuse them in Grok with //
AI Toolbox lets you save prompts and drop them into Grok in one step. Click the round button in the bottom-right corner, then Manage Prompts, and click New prompt. Later, type // in the Grok message box and pick your prompt from the list. The free plan saves 2 prompts. Premium saves unlimited prompts.
Step by step
Step 1: Open Manage Prompts
Click the round button in the bottom-right corner. In the AI Toolbox list, click Manage Prompts.
If you don't see Manage Prompts, open Settings in the same list and switch on Prompt tools.
You should see: A window called Manage Prompts. If it is empty, it says No saved prompts yet.
Step 2: Create a prompt
Click New prompt. Type a short Name, for example Summarize, and the full text in the Prompt box.
For parts that change each time, type a word in double curly braces, like {{topic}}. AI Toolbox asks you to fill it in when you use the prompt.
You should see: The two boxes Name and Prompt, and an Add button.
Step 3: Save it
Click Add. On the free plan, a bar shows how many of your 2 prompts you have used.
You should see: Your prompt in the list with Insert, Copy, Edit and Delete buttons.
Step 4: Type // in the Grok message box
Close the window. Click in Grok's message box, where you normally type. Type // at the start of the box or after a space.
A list of your saved prompts opens. Type a word after // to narrow the list, for example //sum.
You should see: A list of your saved prompts floating just above the message box.
Step 5: Pick a prompt
Click a prompt, or use the arrow keys and press Enter. It replaces the // you typed. Anything else you already wrote stays.
If the prompt has words in curly braces, a small window with the prompt's name opens first and asks for each one. Fill in each box and click Insert.
You should see: The prompt text in Grok's message box, ready to send.
You can also click Insert next to a prompt in Manage Prompts. The prompt goes after anything you already typed.
That's it. You have finished every tutorial in this section.
If something doesn't look right
Typing // does nothing
Type // at the very start of the box or after a space. It does not open in the middle of a word or a web address. Also check that Prompt tools is on: open Settings from the AI Toolbox list and look under Prompts.
Clicking New prompt opens an upgrade window
You already have 2 saved prompts, which is the free limit. Delete one you no longer need, or upgrade to Premium for unlimited prompts.
It says Name and prompt text are both required.
Both boxes need something in them. Give the prompt a short name and paste the prompt text, then click Add.
My prompts are not on my other computer
Prompts are saved to your AI Toolbox account and follow your X account. If Keep my Prompt Library on this device is on in Settings, they stay on this computer only. Switch it off to sync them again.
Free and Premium

What Grok does on its own
Grok lets you set custom instructions that shape how it answers you. That is one standing instruction that applies to your chats.
Saved prompts in AI Toolbox are different: a list of ready-made messages you pick from with //, each used only when you choose it, with blanks you fill in each time.
