How to change AI Toolbox settings on Grok

Click the round button in the bottom-right corner of grok.com or x.com/i/grok, then Settings, the last row. There you can change the language, pick an accent color, show or hide tools like Prompt tools, and refresh your chats under Data. Most settings are free. The free plan includes 2 of the 8 accent colors.

Step by step

  1. Open Settings

    Click the round button in the bottom-right corner. In the AI Toolbox list, click Settings. It is the last row.

    You should see: A window called Settings that starts with Select Language.

  2. Change the language

    Under Select Language, click your language. AI Toolbox switches right away.

    This changes AI Toolbox on every site it runs on, not Grok itself.

    You should see: The window's words change to the language you picked.

  3. Pick an accent color

    Under Accent Color, click a color. Buttons and highlights in AI Toolbox change to that color.

    Blue and Green are free. The other colors show a lock and are Premium.

    You should see: AI Toolbox buttons in your new color.

  4. Show or hide tools

    Each switch turns a tool on or off. Prompt tools controls //, .., Manage Prompts, Manage Chains and Prompt Library. Show the context meter controls the ring above the round button.

    On grok.com only, a Folders section controls My Folders on the left side and Hide chats that are already in a folder.

    You should see: The switch changes color when it is on, and the tool appears or disappears right away.

  5. Refresh your chats

    Scroll down to Data. It shows Cached Chats (how many chats AI Toolbox has read on this site) and Last Sync.

    Click Refresh history if a new chat is missing from search or Manage Chats. It keeps everything and adds what is new.

    You should see: The message Refreshing your Grok history... and then History up to date.

  6. Start over only if something looks wrong

    Clear Cache & Re-sync erases the chats AI Toolbox saved on this computer, then reads them again. Your chats in Grok are not touched.

    Click it once, then click again where it says Click again to confirm.

    You should see: The message Cache cleared! and your chats loading again.

If something doesn't look right

I don't see the Folders section in Settings

That section is on grok.com only, because Grok on X has no chat list on the left side for My Folders. On X, open your folders with Manage Folders from the AI Toolbox list.

Manage Prompts and Prompt Library disappeared

Prompt tools is switched off. Open Settings and switch it on under Prompts. The rows and the // and .. shortcuts come back right away.

Clicking a color opens an upgrade window

The free plan includes Blue and Green. The other 6 accent colors are part of Premium.

Search still misses a new chat after Refresh history

Check that you are on the site where the chat lives, since grok.com and X keep separate lists. If it is still missing, use Clear Cache & Re-sync and wait a few minutes for your chats to load again.

What Grok does on its own

Grok has its own settings on grok.com, including Data Controls for managing your data and a Usage tab for paid plans, as xAI's FAQ describes.

AI Toolbox settings only change AI Toolbox: its language, colors, which of its tools show up, and the copy of your chats it keeps for search. They never change your Grok account.
